We recently launched this new website design for a fun fishing charter and dolphin tours company located on Fort Myers Beach. The previous website was extremely old and even had blinking text on the “About Us” page. The problem with an old site is that your customer today demand better. They are regular internet users and see exceptional websites daily. When they visit an extremely out-dated website, they know it, and they leave.

So, we were hired to re-design Good Time Charters’ website, and we thoroughly enjoyed the process. It was a fun design to create as we were given license to really make it unique and interesting. The overall look and feel of the new website is comfortable and it gives off a nice sense of boating, and vacation.

Some of the tools included in this website project are: Fully enhanced blogging platform so that the Captain’s can write about their adventures, a content management system that allows the client to edit their own pages and have full control over the content of their website, and a self-managed photo gallery that allows the client to upload as many photos as they want.

We are continuing our relationship with Good Time Charters into the future with search engine marketing and SEO work, and we look forward to helping them to get their charter boat seats filled for the new season!

Well….the Big G (Google for those that are not internet nerds!), came by our old website, Awebtech.com, and found a whole bunch of 301 redirects all over the site sending users to our new website, BrianJosephStudios.com.

Awebtech.com has ranked firmly in the top 3 for all of our targetted keyword phrases, and we receive a large amount of traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN (Live).

So, for a while we had both websites up and finally we decided to make the full switch over to Brian Joseph Studios as our main company name. Here’s where it gets messy!

On all pages on awebtech.com, we had to add a server side redirect to the corresponding pages on brianjosephstudios.com. For example, if we had a page : http://awebtech.com/web-design/ we had to add a redirect to a similar page on our new site…like this http://brianjosephstudios.com/web-design/ .

So, with every page on awebtech.com re-directing the user to brianjosephstudios.com, Google gets a little worried (temporarily) about both websites. This is due to the fact that spam websites, and black hat seo’s will use re-directs of all kinds to spam the search engines, showing users something else.

301 re-directs are the correct way to transfer your site over to a new domain name. They are also widely acknowledged as the favored redirect method for all search engines.

The problem with it is though that Google knocks your new site down quite a bit for a short period of time, until it figures out what exactly is going on. So, right now, our website is not ranking as high as it did before all of this was implemented. However, we expect our rankings to come back within a week or two , and when they do, they will come back even stronger.

As one of the first energy rating assessors in Ireland, All Save Energy Solutions is now online with a nice website and logo to hit the ground running.

There will be ongoing work carried out on the website, including an innovative energy rating calculator allowing household residents to receive a sample rating for their property.

The website is already performing exceptionally in the search engines and the client has received a number of leads from it within a few days of the website launch that happened recently!

Q. What is Search Engine Optimization?

Q. How to I clean up my website’s code to get it ready for it’s “Google Interview”?!

A. There are many different aspects of onsite webpage optimization, but here a some of the basics.

- Title Tags : The page’s title tag is what you see at the very top left of your internet browser. The title tag of this blog post is “SEO Naples SEO Fort Myers“. This is one of the aspects of your page that the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN will look at to decide what your page is about. So, if your title tag is “Welcome to our website”……Google has no idea what your site is about from looking at your title tag.

In addition, it is important to give each page of your website it’s very own title tag. Again, imagine what the search engine bots will think when they visit your website. Does every page of your website have the exact same title tag? If so, the search engine bots will think each page on your website has pretty much the same type of content. As a result, they will place most of your website pages in their “Supplemental Results” area , which is not a good place to be!!

- Page Content : another important aspect of your website to present itself well to the search engine bots. Obviously, if your page is all about “Golf Clubs” with good clean code, the search engines will think your page is about golf clubs! Sounds simple, huh? Well, you’d be surprised to learn about the huge number of websites that have a few small paragraphs on each page, that don’t really even talk about the product or service that the website is trying to promote.


- Fresh code : your frontpage should change on a regular basis, new links should be added to new content, keywords throughout your content should be fresh. Don’t let your frontpage become stale or else the search engine bots will decide that there is no need to stop by your website too often.

Q. What are backlinks or link building all about?

A. Backlinks are links from other websites that link to your site. The google bot relies heavily on backlinks to determine a website’s importance and ranking, so this is a vital aspect of search engine marketing for your site. There are many ways to achieve a large number of backlinks, but quality is always better than quantity. For instance, a link from cnn.com to your site would be much more beneficial than 100 backlinks from average websites. This is due to the fact that Google bot sees your website as an important one if cnn.com is linking to you.
